Rearview mirror internal GPS

I've thought about buying one in the past but no shops around here carry them. I don't put much stock into online reviews made by anonymous people and since I noticed a post in this forum about someone owning one, who has what and what are the pros and cons of that model?

The Excursion is off right now by about 8% so I'm mainly interested in real time MPH, plus altitude and grade calculations. I spend a lot of time off the beaten path that neither Garmin or Delorme cover so it's routing capabilities are secondary.

I was considering trying out the new ride by taking the boat (5800#'s) but an afternoon thunderstorm was a possibility. I chickened out and used the Centurion instead. It's 4x4 and I have a set of Pewag square links cut to fit the 33's on it.

Pic was taken on a private oil field road that I happen to have access to.

I have a handheld garmin 60csx (and LOVE IT). I use in rural areas of CO and NV when I am trying to find land boundaries. I don't use the road/nav maps with it (I believe those are available though). My phone is good enough when I am doing long distance drives.

The 60csx does a good job of giving distance to a way point, distance to intersect a line between waypoints, heading, and altitude within the GPS accuracy limits. It also has a GREAT tracking feature where I can view/export portions of the journey (with waypoints) and use a computer to produce a track on "none-existent" roads/trails for use next time..

Not sure it's what you are asking... but info is free .. welcome to FTE

UPDATE: it does give instantaneous MPH as well as average and other info

I have 2 handhelds, a 60CSx and a Delorme PN-40. Both of them are great little units but the screens are hard for me to read (old eyes lol). I was thinking that something mirror mounted would be easier to read, not always bouncing around the cab, and be up and running all of the time.
