I was driving my o4 xl down a REAL narrow street in oregon. There was a parade that day and people decided to park on both sides of a barely two track street, leaving about enough room ( i thought) for ONE direction of traffic to travel at one time. Well i was navigating this street and im pretty much running the cars over on the drivers side and i hear a WACK! just plain loud wack noise, and i look over to the right and there goes a rear view mirror off a chevy van air born. it was up near the grab handle height then it fell. Checked my mirror, NOT A SCRATCH ON IT. Pretty cool stuff.

And you didnt report it or leave your information did you? Even though its a mirror they can be expensive has hell if they are powered. I would report you to the police cause i wouldnt want you driving around any vehicle i own.
I watched my buddy backing in his boat at my fishing camp in toledo bend with his 98 f-150 and he wasnt paying attention and hit a telephone pole with his right sideview mirror. Well the mirror broke off but sure gave the pole a run for its money. I thought i was gonna have to yell "timber!"

Who cares? Nobody leaves there info. And most likely the van was parked there illegally. I doubt you would have left your info. You're just trying to be a smart alek
I wouldnt leave my info either. Its those idiots faults for parking on a public street that is congested. Traffic has the right of way anyway. Cool avatar bassaway
It's people like all you that don't leave their info when they do something that causes insurance rates to be so high. Anytime I see someone hit another car and not leave info I write down their plates and leave it myself. It drives me nuts when people are that inconsiderate like that.

Either way, Ins. companies will still be footing the bill. Accidents raise ins. rates, whether you leave or not.
I personally think the right thing to do would of been to stop or go back and leave a note on the Chevy where the mirror was damaged, if he didn't. The other thing that could happen is if someone else saw this happen, they could get the plate number and call the police. Even if it was just minor damage, this could be considered a hit and run and could turn out bad. I try to think how I would want to be treated if the situation was reversed. This is my humble opinion only, you all can do what you feel is right.
Have a good day!

First of all i am a law enforcement officer and if you are called on an accident like this where cars are parked on both sides of the street and there are no parking lines the vehicle traveling down the street has the right away. It is a street used for vehicle traffic. If the vehicle parked is sticking out into the roadway they can be cited for obstructing traffic. And if youre trying to put yourself in the chevy owners place then yes it sucks but if youre that concerned about your vehicle then park it somewhere other than in the street. In order for it to be legal to park on the side of the street it has to be protected by a line, if the vehicle is parked over the line or on the line, this includes the mirror, then they can be cited. If the vehicle is inside these lines then you can be charged with hit and run. I am sure this varys from state to state so check your local law.
Extreme1,
It was not mentioned that the Chevy was sticking out in the roadway. And if there were no posted "no parking" signs posted on either side of the road, would you still think that the driver of the Ford had the right away if his judgement was off? I think we need more information before we say that the Chevy was at fault. If I drive down a street that is blocked because of a disabled vehicle in the road, for example, and hit the vehicle, I would think that I would be in the wrong. Maybe slowing down or taking a different route would be a better option.

Phil
What kind of law enforcement officier are you? It just seems bad that if you ran into someone, even if they are parked illegally that you wouldn't stop to leave your information. I guess in your thinking two wrongs does make a right.
