Got a quick question, just pulled a 215 Ford 6 cylinder out of my 52 Ford truck. Well the bell housing off of the 6 cylinder bolt up to a flathead 8. Thanks for any help in advance, Dennis
Hey guys, thanks for the answers. I was going to try and sell it but if it doesn't fit the flathead I sure it would be hard to sell. I have put a 327 in the truck with the wilco adapter and I'm using the old heavy duty 3 speed trans. Now I am wanting to update to a Chevy manual transmission. The only thing I am worried about is how to make the clutch setup work. If anyone has any ideas, I all ears. I don't want an automatic, I want to down shift and hear those beautiful pipe sing. So anyone who has done this, let me know what worked for you. Thanks, Dennis
What part of the country are you in? I know someone that may want to buy that 3spd HD tranny if you are interested in selling. Send me a PM if interested. Thanks.
Although the 215 bell housing won't bolt up to the V8, the flathead V8 bell housing will still bolt up to your trans. They share the same trans bolt pattern.
You guys are right about using a flathead-type adapter, but it seems like that only addresses the physical bolt-up and the clutch actuation. I can't believe a Saginaw or T10 has the same input shaft length as a T5, or that the front bearing retainer is the same diameter. (It would help to know which GM 4-sp you're looking at?)
Guys, I am going to pull the adapter all together. I have a 327 and I am going to bolt a Chevy truck four speed or a 5 speed using all chevy parts but I am trying to figure out how I can keep the peddles factory and need to figure out some kind of linkage to work the Chevy clutch set up. That is what i'm hoping to do. I want to get rid of all the adapter parts and go chevy all the way and figure out how to make the stock peddle work the chevy linkage. Thanks again for all the help, Dennis
