I have an 84 f150 with the four speed granny tranny. I pulled the stock blown 300 that came with it and was gonna put another fixed up 300 back in. I recently found a good deal on a 351c and was wondering how that would bolt to my stock transmission and whether I would have to get a different heavier duty trans? Any input? Thanks
The 4-speed should be plenty strong enough and it should have a removable bell housing. I'm less familiar with the 300's and the 351C's than any other Fomoco engine but I'm pretty sure you can change the bell housing and mate the two together.
clevland and 300 six have the same bolt pattern . add a pilot bushing and get a correct balance flywheel ,even the clutch will work . 351w motor mounts should work as well. ihave an 85 that was a 300 that now has a windsor

The 351C will bolt in there real nice.. Not sure which engine to frame mounts the 300 six uses.. Whether you can re use your existing mounts or have to buy new ones to suit the Cleveland, just be aware there is a spacer that bolts between the engine mount and the block.. If you need some pics let me know.. The NP435 4 speed will be happy behind the Cleveland. Here in Australia we got Clevelands up to the end of 1984.. Here's my June 1984 build. Numbers matching 351 Cleveland and NP435/NP208... Cheers, Brett.
The 351c motor mounts and bellhousing patterns are the same as the 302/351w, and it will bolt in easily into the engine bay. It's the little stuff that's going to get you, since they never offered a 351c in one of these trucks in the states.
So you will have to search out a rear sump oil pan and oil pump pickup tube and support stud. Do some research and see if a 351m/400 truck pan will fit. It might, since they are sort of related to the 351c.
You will need to figure out the exhaust. 351m/400 manifolds will bolt on, but the 351m/400 engines had a taller deck, so the engine was wider, so the 351m/400 y-pipe is not going to work, and those exhaust manifolds may or may not be adaptable. Same with headers. You are not going to find 351c headers that will fit, and I know from experience 351m/400 headers won't fit because they hit the bellhousing on the 351c setup.
