The guys who originally wrote the newspaper column by the same name are somewhat jokers, think of Click N Clack of NPR.
The Motley Fool is nothing if not trying to play both sides against one another, laughing from the sidelines while they're scrambling to answer whatever BS is thrown towards them.
During their history both Ford and GM's pick ups have been said to be outdated, that the competition's newest offering will be the latest, greatest and yet over the years both brands have been very popular. When Toyota introduced their full sized pick ups those too were to spell the end of Ford, GM and Dodge. Sales were impacted but mostly because those willing to try any new thing that comes along did just that.
After about two paragraphs of that article it becomes boring---at least to me. I'll drive what works for me not because some article says they have an answer to a problem I don't have!
