Leak ????

To start I have 2001 f250 Extended cab SWB Auto 7.3 4x4 with a 165000 miles. I was under the truck changeing the oil and noticed a leak coming from a fitting at the front drivers side of the engine. The line has blue "wire" lume around it. It is leaking from a fitting that has a metal clip over the fitting. The fitting looks like a fuel fitting that you use one of those plactic "C" tools to release the connection. By the way there are two lines but only one has a leak. My question is there an o-ring I can replace or do I have to replace the whole line? I will try to get a picture and figure out how upload.

Not sure what you are describing. A picture will absolutely help.

Sounds like you might be describing one of the fuel line connections. Blue is the return, I think?

It is one of the fuel lines. The one with the blue lume covering it. It is below the oil cooler on the drivers side. I can not figure out how to post a picture. Apperantley it hooks to the fuel line that goes up to the fuel bowl. I have read where people have talked about cutting the line and haveing to replace the whole line. A part number I have found for the whole line is 2C3Z9J338BA. But have not found out anything about an o-ring.

If I were in your situation I'd phone Bob at dieselorings and ask him about it.

Here is a link to his website: DieselOrings

I called Bob earlier after I posted this. He told me the best way is to take the line out and replace with fuel injector hose. It will flow better and alot cheaper. But to cover the hose with the wire lume. I just do not know if the leak is on the return or high pressue side. Bob also told me that I probably would not be able to get the quick connect lose. Bob sure is a very nice man to talk too and really knows his stuff. So if you read this Bob. Thank You.

Is the blue wire lume return or is the grey wire lume return?

I just got a chance to look. Grey is return and blue is the feeder. I am seeing fluid at the "grey" return fitting where the s/s line connects to the rubber line that goes over the engine mount. But now I need to make sure it is not leaking at the braket the holds the s/s lines to the block. Thanks for the help so far.

Don't know if this means anything. When I cleaned the lines, the metal clip that has the two barbs that fit in the quick connect, came off. Apperently the clip was not seated in the connection. So I put it in the way the other clip is. So I will see if that helps first. It is not a big leak. I have never seen a puddle under the truck just some residue on the line and on the side of the oil pan. Ths block is clean above the "holder" that holds the the two s/s lines to the block. The oil cooler is clean no residue on it anywhere.
