New to this forum and to Boise. I am looking for a FORD tranny guy around Boise. I hate to take it to someone, but my schedule does not allow me the time to pull and rebuild myself. All was good today for the first 50 miles, then hooked on to a trailer and lost all forward movement, reverse still good. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you.
The thing I will ask you, how long are you going to keep the truck. I went else where, paid less, and 38,000 miles later lost second gear. I now have one of the better trans, but it was done twice.
The Ford dealership will have the HD4R100 for a lower price than a JW or BTS. While the reputation of the HD has not been built yet, I have one and it's a lot tougher than the 4R100. Just threw that in as an option.

I'm guessing by now you've done something with your transmission? Where did you take it and are you happy with the service? I'm down in Mt Home and have been toying with the idea of rebuilding my tranny too. In my research though, I did come across Bobby's Transmission Center in Meridian (Transmission Repair in Boise, Meridian, Idaho. Auto Repair). They have been in business a long time which is always a good sign but other than that, I don't know anything about them.
If you drop it in to first does it move?
Mine did this and it turned out to be pressure feed bolt came loose in the valve body. I dropped valve bodies and retorqued and got movement back
