Hey everyone, got a problem here. When I shift to 4hi it goes beautifully but won't go any further so no neutral on the transfer case or 4lo. Any ideas?

Don't know on a '90, but on the later trucks you have to push down on the shifter to go to neutral & 4Lo.
Not trying to be condescending or anything, but if it's a new-to-you truck with that shifter, you might not know that...

Nope, his '90 has the early shifter where you go sideways around the detent.

Try shifting with the truck rolling about 1-2 MPH in neutral. Sometimes the gears ain't lined up quite right, and unless the output shaft is turning it can be a pain to get them to mesh.

Yeah my old Bronco would not shift in park. Even in/out of 4 HI it would be a buggger... I always found putting it in neutral and foot off the brakes was the easiest, and it helped the gears to mesh

Thanks for all the replies I'm just getting this now because I'm not on too often with school and everything but I'm gonna try using the compressor to blow around the linkage I case like a piece of rust is jamming it or something and then grease it up. If worst comes to worst i guess I'll have to take off the linkage and thoroughly check it out.
