NP203 linkage - WTF????
This NP203 is kicking my ***. Anyone have a linkage diagram for a '77 f250?

The linkage does not appear to be recentently F'd with. so I am assuming it is simply jammed or stuck. If I had a diagram I would be able to see what it is supposed to do. All help will be greatly appreciated. Looking at other threads it appears I am not the only one having difficulty W/ this 203, however I searched and am still unable to find a solution!

Has the case been converted to a part time unit yet?
It has been my experience with these that it is generally not the linkage, but the shifter itself that fails.
There are a pair of plates seperated by another fixed plate. This fixed plate has a pair of spring loaded pins that are responsible for engaging the side plates (gates) during the proper shift lever orientation. Many times these spring loaded pins will get stuck, and the shifter itself fails. If it fails, the shifter will not move the side plates, and the t-case does not engage.
I would disconnect the linkage from the case, and shifter (do not mix up the rods, or get them backwards) and try to move the shift lever. Then manually engage the inner, and the outer shift levers on the case itself to verify operation. This will isolate your problem doen to the case, or the shifter.
Not hard, just takes a little time.
You shifter can be fixed. These shifters have been known to just get dirty, or the case falls apart because the rivets come loose. I have drilled out the rivets and replaced them with nuts and bolts. Work just fine. You could also make a pair of levers to actuate the rods independantly, and you are rolling again.
Consider that you will need a little bit more than just the case, and a few shafts to convert to the 205.
This is the right swap, and it sounds like you found a deal on a 205. You are still going to need a new shifter. Might even consider doing your "twin stick" modification now, if you can find some demand for this type of modification.
By the way, that sounds like a good deal for the driveshaft work.
