I first noticed it about a year ago, and it's getting more and more frequent.
Questions:
a) what is causing it?
b) is there any additive that known to help with shudder?
c) what are the recommended and possible fixes for it?
I read that oil change with Mercon V is one -- I actually changed it not too long ago (~40k), so I'd like to try some additives first, and if they don't work, do another ATF change.
Vehicle has a little over 292k, mostly highway miles.
It depends on when the shudder appears. Just starting from a stop? During a shift? During torque converter lock?

I wouldn't use any additives.

Once again, that depends on when it is shuddering.

With 40k on the fluid it is due for a change. The anti-shudder additive wears out. You need to replace the fluid to get it back.
It normally happens during acceleration, and very often on the same stretch of the road (at the end of a cloverleaf from I-405 to SR-520 eastbound) , and I think the car is going about 40 - 45 mph when it starts. Easing up on the accelerator usually stops it.
I do not know what exactly is making the noise -- it's kinda unnerving, though.
