Quick Help Please, Need to work
Alright guys the run down. Truck was running perfect up till just now. Yesterday I installed some cheap HID's just to see how they looked. After installing and all it started up just fine.
Left it overnight after driving around last night to see how well they worked, and this morning it wouldn't start.
Unhooked the plug for the HID's and it started right up. Drove it to hook up to the trailer and killed it.
Now its dead and wont start again. Got it charging on another truck right now.
1. Could that HID kit have killed my battery that quick?
2. What volts does the batteries need to have to crank?
3. Anything else you can think of?
HID's are now off and normal silverstars are back in.

Im not sure if the HID's will mess with the factory setup. Do you have a DP tuner? I have heard they can get interference from HID's. You need at least 10.5 volts with the glow plugs on and cranking to get the injectors to fire. Just sitting with nothing turned on the batts should be near 12.5.

The HID's are out of the truck, Silverstars back in. Jumped it off my co-workers Dodge (Yea I heard so much trash talk during this) and left it running for a few minutes. Said screw it, and went to pulling the trailer to the jobs we had to do, had him follow just incase. Having a load on the truck to my understanding charges the system better than sitting idle, so that's what I did.
Well all is fine now. My guessing, and not going to put them back in to figure it out, the HID's totally jacked with my system somehow. Or they at least drained all power to the truck from sitting overnight. Like I said, not putting them back in to figure out.

I have herd " not from a reliable source " but cheap HID lights can mess with the electronics on our trucks. Especially if you have a DP Tuner.
On the charging of the Batteries....... I have burnt up an alternator after having dead batteries letting it sit and idle. Best way to charge your batts and save your alternator would be to drive it asap after it fires.
Good luck as this was more of a BUMP for ya. Hate when the Goats have to come to the rescue or little boys with bow ties. Had a goat pull me 25mi back to the shop 5 years ago and i still hear about it LOL
GOOD LUCK

Yes it was a cheap set, but there off the truck now. Thought everything worked out yesterday after removing them, but new problem this morning.
A little hard to start this morning, but not bad. When I started moving, it surged a couple times and then the O/D light on the shifter started flashing. Saw this posted on here a bit ago, but cant seem to figure it out now. Any ideas?

Electronics don't like high frequency components. I have heard a few times here before of people having running and shifting problems with some HID kits. Some have had luck with simply grounding the HID ballast to the body somewhere under the hood.
I was going to do HID's in my X but got scared and stuck with filament bulbs.
