97 XLT, 3.0 auto, 82000Km. (50,000Miles) Not a daily driver, since my work truck (GMC5500/40ft reach bucket truck) comes home with me. Mostly used for running into town/going to the bowling alley. Still in VG condition, 3rd owner, bought it 3 years ago for $3K.
I've switched from the original 14" aluminium wheels to 15" steel due to the poor condition of the factory wheels, all of the clear coat was peeling off and they were very corroded. I'm using the chrome plastic cups that were on the factory wheels to cover the wheel nuts/hubs, however, the spring clips that grip the wheel nuts are starting to break off due to rust. Replacement cups at the dealer are in the $80/ea range, the only local recycling yard has none, and aftermarket are almost as expensive as the dealer.
Has anyone found a source for the steel spring clips, or does anyone have any suggestions on how to repair the cups so I don't lose one (or more) due to the potholes in the roads?
Take a photo of what you've got. I have some that are in good shape for free, if you're up around the Soo, I can meet you there.
Oh, never mind, I see you're over in N.S.
