I'm fairly new here as a poster, but I've been reading these forums for a while. I don't recall seeing anything posted about loosing a wheel skin before. Up until about a week ago I thought my 03 F250 had factory chrome wheels, but I was surprised when I came home one day to find I had an ugly black steel wheel on my front left side. It looks like the skin was glued on with liquid nails or such. I can't seem to find a replacement anywhere. You can see pics at Picasa Web Albums - 2Dayvid - F250 Wheels
That's weird. You might check with the dealer and see if it was an option or aftermarket item. I would suggest doing a search on FleaBay. I know there are alot of skins sold for those who have dualies and just stock steel wheels. You can buy a complete set new for about $75.
If the wheel covers aren't meant to come off, I doubt there would be a part number for my missing piece. I guess I'm SOL on this one. I've been looking for another wheel and can't seem to find one. I really like these on my truck and I don't think I've seen another truck with these wheels (Although I know there must be some around).
I've checked ebay for them, to no avail. Oh well, I'll keep looking.
I agree, if this is not a replacable part then Ford will not have a part number for it. I have seen simulators on Ebay, but this is for a bigger wheel look. Still, you might want to look at those lines.
I don't see any signs of prying. And I must be blind or something because I didn't see it (or hear it) come off. I'm quite sure it happened when I was driving it. You can see on the pics I posted where it looks like it was glued on.
Thanks guys, for all your help. I'll keep looking around. Somebody's got to have a skin or a whole wheel.
