While searching the salvage yard for a Saginaw pump and brackets for my 460 I came across a E-350 box truck with a 460. The a/c compressor looked to be a Sanderson. The alternator bracket is also located on the upper passenger side. My thoughts are to get all the brackets and install them on my 460. I think I would be able to put an ambulance alternator on it? I also found another Saginaw setup with a York compressor? Which setup would y'all go with.
The sanden is a good compressor and just requires re doing your ac. Its better for use with r134a than the york which was made for r12 and the sanden is smoother and probably takes less power to turn. I would do this myself if I could find the brackets. What year is the van does it have v-belts. I have done the saginaw conversion and it is great.
If i were you I would snag that up. Make sure you get the saginaw hoses too. I got mine off ebay and the hose id't work but its worth a shot. I had to have a custom high pressure hose built, it cost about $50. I would be curious to know how much $ you pay for it for future reference.
Not sure if the alternator would work but you could do the 3g conversion and probably be even better off.
I don't know if the FS6 will fit- I doubt it. From what I have researched its just as good as a sanden and you will already have the correct bracket assuming they are different.
If you do use a used compressor it is recommended to inspect the bearings and seals and flush it. You should also replace the drier anytime you open up an AC system they aren't that expensive. It is also likely that you will need to replace the hoses and or fittings to adapt from the york to the different compressor. You may get better knowledgable answers in the ac hvac forum or do a search there.
After doing some research the a/c pump is most likely a fs6 and not a sanden. Does anyone know if there is a sanden that will fit in the fs6 bracket?
The fs6 bracket will not fit a sanden comp with out an adaptor plate. I was told there was a company that made them for a while, but no longer do. And sanden does not make an ear mount to replace a fs6 nipo comp.
Went to the salvage yard. The E350 had a aftermarket A/C with a sanden compressor with aftermarket aluminum brackets. The compressor is locked up which is fine it will work for a core. I purchased the a/c compressor, brackets and pulleys along with the Saginaw pump brackets and press hoses for $40. SCORE!!!!!!!
