I recently purchased a 1983 E-350, 460-engine motorhome. The previous owner had removed the air conditioner. The idler bracket is still on the engine, but the compressor bracket and compressor are missing.
Will the brackets from any non fuel injected 460 work or will they need to be for a van or a close model year. Finally, does anyone know the ford part number on the correct bracket(s).
I've got a 1982 E-350 460 class C motorhome - it's a fix and repair daily vehicle.
I'll look and see if there are part numbers on the brackets. There seems to be plenty of room in front of the engine, so I'd guess the brackets don't have to be van-specific. Do you have a compressor already?
Ford started putting the 460 back into their pick-up trucks in 83. The pick-up's did not have an idler pulley. The tension was adjusted by moving the compressor.
I believe the van's bracketry is completely different then a pick-up's.
