Hey guys, I've got a set of '74 f250 axles and transfer case that I'm going to sell soon. I'm just curious wether or not the original low pinion closed knuckle front axle is a hard item to find. I haven't found any for sale using the search function. I have no idea if this stuff is rare or if I should just fire sale it! I need the room to finish my 57 f100 project.
I have a set of '75 axles that I was going to put under my '57 but decided to go with an open knuckle front axle with disc brakes. Tried to sell them a couple of times, without a lot of interest.

Where are you two at? Do you have the large knuckle axles? If you do and are halfway close, I am interested (depending on price, of course).
as you probably just figured out, they are worth more in parts than anything. They do have larger U joints than the open, but the draw backs aren't really worth it.
Kind of strange, but I'm in Reno also. My axles are 8 bolt, Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear I believe. The rear is full floating, both are drums. I believe they were off a '74, but I bought them almost 25 years ago. I still have the frame but I had already begun the process of shortening it way back when! I think I'll just scrap it.
I still have the original springs, both axles, and the transfer case. I have no idea what the axles are worth. I've seen the cases going for $250 to $300 on this website. If I can't sell the axles right away I'll park them in my yard for a while but the frame has to go right away! I also have the original wheels. I was told they were split rims. Are those worth anything?
By the way Hotfalcoon, are you really in Reno and building a '57? I figured I was the only one in this area that had an interest in those things!
D57 yes I am in Reno (Cold Springs) and I am trying to build my '57 but have not made a whole lot of progress on it yet.
My brother also has a '57 that was our dads truck, it is mostly stock but has not had any attention in a long time either.
