Fittings

Im getting closer...

Just ordered my 2nd fuel pump for the vo side off ebay...
New Fuel Pump Installation Kit Ford Pickup Van 7 3L Diesel E2236 | eBay

Now for gathering the fittings i will need to do this how i wanna try it...

The fittings on the heads... 1/8th npt?
What about the line fittings with the oring sleeves?

I think i can do everything in the rear part of the system with hose barbs and compression fittings. Going to put a T on the return (or 3 way sv) to just divert the return from the d2 tank... to the vo pickup... so im not wasting heat trying to keep 90 gallons warm...

Still looking like im a month or so out from actually running vo through my truck.. but getting very excited!

Pump should be here friday or saturday

Answered my own question... 1/8" npt fits into the fuel ports beautifully.

I hate to tell you, the electric pumps like that do not hold up to the SVO. You need to get a gear pump. Like,

Diesel Biodiesel WVO Fuel Pump | eBay
Or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FASS-Fuel-pump-for-use-with-WVO-waste-cooking-oil-Adjustable-pressure-Warranty-/160898824497?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2576513931&vxp=mtr
I know what you are saying "but the one I bought only cost $38.00 and I can buy a lot of them for the price of that pump" but let me tell you from experience changing out the pumps because I just took a 200 mile trip all on SVO and overheated the pump gets old.

I'm going to second that statement. That ebay pump isn't going to last very long. I've been there, done that. Cheapos like that barely worked on my Jetta for a month, let alone on an 8 cylinder.

Well... that sux lol.

I think i will still use it... document the damage and how long it takes and report on it...
Heck i might get lucky and have it last a while?

Worse case scenario...
It kills the pump... d2 pump will automatically take over... purge itself... and then run d2 till i put new pump on.

Geenkies i dont wanna spent that much on a pump.

Need to get more patients... lol

Before you give up on that cheap pump, go to post #50 in this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...el-pump-4.html
A couple guys seem to have had luck with them. Maybe send a PM to find out more info?

I bounced a couple ideas off Jason already...
Wanted to make this a public question back up top about these pumps and exactly what fittings are required to tie in at the engine...

Initially... for my system... i will need 2 plugs to cap the return ports off on my frx...
Then a T to tie the frx ends together... check valve where wvo enters the T.

Check valves at both oem fuel inlets on the heads.

1/8" npt male - female cv x3 at the heads and input for wvo T

1/8"npt male plug x2
1/8"npt T
1/8" npt male to 3/8" hose barb for the other end of the wvo cv.

No selonoid valves in the engine compartment.
Im going to be using part of the oem style tank selector valve as follows:

Oem d2 fuel feed and lines will be untouched from oem tank to fuel bowl with 1 exception.
Aux tank side will be partially utilized.

The diesel fuel feed... is getting a t fitting... so i can route it to the aux feed at the same time on the oem tank selector. The return however is getting some modification.

Oem d2 return from selector valve will be untouched...
Aux side return is getting routed to the aux tank pump feed... just before the pump...

Thinking about adding a selonoid valve after the tank selector in the return sequence... so i can block off the d2 tank return completely, simply, cheap... and divert to wvo pickup.

I could then theoretically force purge if necessary by switching back to d2... and keep d2 return shut off...

I know... oem steel lines on the return...
The lines are getting old...
So's my "Jecters" as our beloved Rich would say...
So yah... im looking for excuss to upgrade anyway...

Sort of...

Im leaving the regulator on the fuel bowl... but removing the lines and capping the ports.
The lines are going into a t fitting with a cv for vo.

Vo pump gets turned on... runs at higher pressure than d2... overpowers cv's and pushes its way thru the frx lines to the heads... the cv at the t will keep d2 from backflowing into the vo system.

If it works... it will be the simplest switching design i have seen so far.
Once the design is proven... i will work on the bowl delete and full regulated return.
Eventually i would like to be pushing around 450 on vo.

The last post about the regulator is for that future stage...
Im guessing the cheapo regulator wont pass near enough volume but i love the color so hoping it might work...
