351 sbf windsor or 5.0 drivable performance mods/ best 5spd/t-case
1.Hi i want to attempt my first mass air flow efi engine swap. OR
2.Has anyone swapped a 95-96 maf 5.0 intake, throttle body, etc on a 1988 ford speed density 5.0 are there any other diff's I need to know about other than wiring? I am also open to PROVEN performance mods as I would like to get in the neighborhood of 300-375hp/325-400tq at the wheels. I would like to stay with a truck NOT A NOT A DIFFICULT TO DRIVE 4X4. will be my dd
I would like to build a reliable motor for my 87 F-150 [it has 88 speed density 5.0 in it] I also use it in the mud and will be looking for 33x12.5x15-35x14.5x15 mud tires and was looking at saving up for boggers[im aware of the noise] but am open to other M/T options.
What is the best 4x4 5spd for my truck and I would like to swap in a np205 t-case
I plan to build this truck as I go.

Ok.. we'll help you as much as we can.
Those parts are the same as what's on you SD motor so don't waste your time.
'96 was the first year for OBD2 so don't go there unless you're really good with wiring. Your best bet is to go buy a mustang PCM and MAF meter and then buy a MAF conversion harness. These parts will plug right into your truck without any mods to the existing harness and the PCM is compatible with all the aftermarket tuner that you will need once you go beyond the limits of the stock PCM.. which is about 300hp. You can also fabricate an overlay harness with wires pulled from another MAF vehicle but be aware you need the full harness complete all the way back to the PCM not just the engine portion, and you need to be reasonably good at tracing wires and reading wiring diagrams.
Those HP goals are achievable but you'll never see 400tq without a blower, a 347 stroker kit, or a 5.8 swap. To break 300hp the motor will need heads, a cam, and a full exhaust system.
Not sure what you mean by this.
With tires that big and for those uses the truck will need 4.10 gears minimum and 4.56 is more appropriate, doesn't matter what you do under the hood it will suck in the mud unless you get some gears in those axles.
That would be the ZF 5-speed found in HD trucks.

^Can't add much to that.
However, if this is going to be your DD, Boggers are not a good choice. They aren't exactly known for longevity on pavement. Cooper Discoverer STT would be a good choice of tire if you are going to use it on the street and as a mudder. They are about the best all around as of right now.

I can't say I agree with the Cooper tires. Let's make a long story short and just say I've had very bad luck with Cooper tires and you will never see them on my truck. But that's just me.
I like the Goodyear Wrangler Dura-Trac. They are nice aggressive A/T tire but don't have much road noise at all. And Firestone Destination's would be my second choice.
