It started that I was just going to get more memmry for my Athalon 700. Then Fry's had a good deal on motherboard processor combo, and I needed a new case because my power supply was not good enough. THen when everything was running, my video card crapped out. Then while I was there Fry's had a great deal on the Maxtor hard drive. As soon as I got the hard drive and Video card I could play Enter the Matrix.

If I can I customize it I do. It really is a sickness.

 

well.. I'm not the BADDEST computer on the block.. but I got bored with it one day and did this:



800mhz P3 196 PCI133 RAM and a GeForce 2 Pro (64mb) 30gig harddrive and lots of other stuff

 

My main PC.


-ViewSonic P220F monitor (22" Flat CRT)
-P4 2.4GHZ (temp cpu till a customer wants to buy it and I go 3.06. At x-mas time I didn't want to shell out 1200$ for a cpu)
-Asus P4T533 Motherboard
-2xWestern Digital 7200RPM ide drives striped array using onboard raid
-256M 32Bit 1066PC Rdram (cant tell the diff between 512 really dont need it saved some coin this time round)
-Old archaic ATI AIW RADEON 32M DDR (original one)
-Cheap 10x DVD drive
-Plextor 24x10x10 cdrw
-SB audigy 1 OEM (I want the SB AUD. Plat 2 But I cant justify cost)
-Dlink 10/100Nic (lost my 3com when building my server...needed it asap...)
-Fujitsu Soft touch kb (love it cheap but I love it)
-Logitech optical mouse (my MS one died when I dropped it off the desk one time to many)
-Altec Lansing speakers. 4.1 (going to Logitech 680z in the next month I have a cust. that wants these)

Networking "stuff"

-Smartlink 5port 10/100 unmanaged switch (all cables attached to it are under 15' long, works great no problems at all)
-DLINK 10/100 DSS8+ switch (this hooks the cable modem, my mothers computer and my switch together)
-DLINK 900AP+ (WIFI access point, this goes into my smartlink switch and routes all my brothers (2 brothers) + my laptop(s) when I have them (just sold the last one) into the server.


The servers primary functions are: providing net for me + wifi access to the house. The server was working as a DNS server as well as dhcp but after I upgraded from my dual P166 box I reinstalled everything and now my DNS wont work which to say the least is a little annoying. However its a SLACK 9.0 box everyone else is running XP in the house.


Oh and I have an archaic Nomad 1 mp3 player which I cant update songs on because I have no xp software >


Which doesn't please me.


Anyway thats my setup. and the cable modems here are 3mbit down and 756Kbps up.


And they just implied limits, so I use the server for mp3 + music vid streaming across the house as well (12Gigs mp3 + 20+gigs of music vids)

stencel out a design and cut it with a dremmel tool





paint it black
use some silocone adhesive and glue lexan behind it for the window..
and throw in a blue cathode light

total cost 75$

 

damn geocities and bandwidth limits....
