PC Power!

Since we all like to talk about our "Manly Fords" and all the power they have, how about a thread on our PC's?

I'm still running a 475 AMD k62 on a 13 gig HD with a Cable modem, maxed out at 512 megs of ram.

I can remember it was considered the ultimate gaming Pc....*sigh*.

to think that I paid 1700 dollars for it new too....

What's under your shell?

PC Power!

I have a moo-moo (Gateway) bought three years ago and was top of the line. 600MHZ K6 AMD, 128MB memory (SDRAM), 20 GB 5400 RPM hard drive, CR-RW, DVD, Digital speakers, SoundBlaster Live! Value with Digital out, Windows 98, 16" viewable CRT. All this for $2200!!

I have added another 20GB drive, another 256MB of memory, and replaced the CD-RW.

We are looking at a new one for my wifes home business. Can you say 'tax write-off'?

Computer's are a worst investment than cars (note: I said cars, not trucks -

I've got an Alienware custom hotrod job (yee-haw!) that's about 2 years old now.

P4 1.7G
384Mb RDRAM
64MB Nvidia video card.

That's all I can think of right now; it's 3:20am and I'm tired.

The machine i'm using now is a AMD K62 366 mghz machine, 192 mb ram, ATI Radeon 7200 32mb vid card, samsung 48x dvd cd-r burner with a 40gb maxtor 7200 rpm hard drive.

My new machine (well new to me.) is going to consist of a 1.7 ghz cpu with 512mb ram, the same radeon vid card, cd burner and hard drive, with a soundblaster live 5.1 sound card.

i think i aught to be able to handle some fairly new games with this setup.

My parents just got one just like yours, I got to put it together and tweak it.

Yeah I was drooling.

Not to sure if i Like XP though, been running windows 98 for so long any thing different would take some time to grow on me.

Once you learn your way around XP you will like it as long as you upgrade to the pro version. XP is the first windows since 3.11 that works good. Sorry to say but 98 was not the finest flower that Gatesware ever built.

I forgot to mention that I run a 19" SONY Flatscreen CRT.

I still like the CRT's because the LCD's just aren't fast enuf yet to run good games on and my son still uses my machine for a guest every so often. He has a 17" trueflat CRT, he wouldn't like hauling a 19" to LAN's. There are supposedly a couple of fast LCD's but he has tried them and still did not like them.

I'm running on an old, old, P2 400, 256megs of ram 10 gig HD, GeForce 2 MX 64meg. It's pretty damn slow
Once I get my tax return or save up $400, I'll be building my new one

Athlon XP 2.2+
512 megs of PC-2700 DDR Ram
110 gig HD (100gig + my 10 gig I have now)
21" Moniter (got this now)
Radeon 9700 PRO

EAT THAT NEW COMPUTER GAMES I WANT TO PLAY!
He he, I can't wait to start building the thing, I need it so bad.
