The stock pressure switches are long known for failures. A more serious problem with these switches is when they deteriorate and take extreme pressure as in a panic stop to come on. You want the brake lights to come on when you make an easy stop. Replace the switch, less than $10.00 many places. Clean the wire contacts, too.

Crawl underneath, pull the wires off the switch and run a jumper wire between the two wires. If the lights come on then the switch is bad, if you still have no lights then the problem is elsewhere.
