Brake Lights always on?
Really wierd problem, the brake lights are always on and I have to disconnect the battery lead to turn them off. I've had the switch on the brake pedal replaced before (several months back when I had no brake lights) and it worked fine up until now.
Q: On the switch there are 2 wires, one controls the brake lights, the other controls the tail lights when the head lights are on. Which is which?
I have noticed that the plug connection to the top lead is loose. I am beginning to think this is wiring instead of switch related (because of the age of the vehicle and because this is a fairly new switch).
All other lights (headlights, indicators and emergency flashers) function properly.

You could have one of the following problems:
1. The wires to the Stop Lamp Switch are hung up or not long enough to let the switch move freely.
2. The Brake Pedal is not coming all the way back up.
3. The Master Cylinder Push Rod is too long.
4. The switch could be assembled wrong.
5. And of course the switch its self could have its contacts welded shut or its spring messed up.
It must have play on Brake Pedal Arm Pin.
