Well I finally got rid of all the clunking thanks to the smart guy's and gal who bless this site. My slip yoke clunk is gone and after changing the front sway bar bushings and end links that pissy clunk/rattle that rears it's ugly noise and feel under my non gas pedal foot is gone. So after ball joints, new shocks, brakes, front steering links, new u joints I am riding high. Oh by the way a fair bit of cussing along the way. I rewarded my truck with a new extang trifecta tonneu cover I found online for $329 and we are headed for South Dakota next week to celebrate my ride and my Dad's 75th birthday. I am going to see if the new exhaust has helped my gas mileage, great 500 mile trip to check. thanks to all for the input.
It's always nice to do something to your truck to make it more enjoyable to drive!
I also have a slight clunk in "my non gas pedal foot" and was wondering what part you think fixed it. The dealer I just bought it from replaced the upper and lower ball joints ( although they put the straight grease zirk on the upper one and not the one you can get a grease gun into) as well as the sway bar end links (not the bushings that connect it to the axle) before I bought it.
Good luck on your trip, hope all goes well and wish your Dad happy birthday from all of us on FTE!!
I picked up the moog sway bar bushings at advance auto parts k80072 sku 20516768 $14.99. Sway bar link(I listed as control arms my bad) these were kind of cheap wish I would have gotten the moog but they are easy to change so I'll get the good ones when these wear out. Cost on the links was $15 each hope this helps, it sure is nice not having that noise every time I hit a small bump in the road.
