I have a 98 f250 ld 4.6l 4x4 ext cab. I am losing oil somewhere no smoke or leaks. I was wondering what it could be and also should i do any additive like sea foam or lucas?
How much do you lose per 1000 miles?
There can be several causes of oil loss.
1. Intake valve stem seals.
2. PCV valve stuck open.
3. Gasket leaks.
4. Ring seal.
5. Gasket failure in the oil supply tract from block to heads, on rear pass side or front driver side.
6. Pan gasket/crank seals etc.
Good luck.
Thanks guys. Well I have 118565 for miles. Now yesterday the oil light came on I waited till the evening and it had oil. So I am thinking maybe pressure sending unit?
OK, the light comes on for low pressure, not low level. So you have a pressure problem.
