300 i6 to 351w swap

im fixin to swap my 300 efi for a carbed 351w in my 95 f150. i was just gonna see if there are any tips or tricks yall have for getting through this with the most ease. i have a guy making my motor mounts so that is no problem but i didnt know when it came to things like a new radiator or if i have to use shorty headers or anything like that. some say all i need is a flywheel and some say i need everything from a radiator to a new oil pan. any help would be really useful. thanks!

The usual procedure on this Forum is to swap a 300 in place of other engines. If you want to swap in a 351 I suggest a Forum that deals with 351 swap outs.

First off, I'd definitely recommend keeping the 300. I'm actually working with my brother on doing the exact opposite of you. Taking out a carb'd 351 and putting an EFI 300 in it's place.

But, if you're set on it, I'd recommend, as Harte said, finding a 351 V8 forum. They'll know what you need to have included for that engine. And yes, you'll more than likely need a bunch of exhaust work, new radiator, etc. Not to mention interfacing the electronics in your dash with the carb'd engine for the speedometer and gauges. Is it an auto? If so, that'll make it even more difficult since the computer requires the engine to know when to shift (if you have an E4OD, which you probably do.)

I should have known better than to post it in here haha I'm sorry. Thanks for the help though. The only reason I'm really wanting to swap is because I'm 17 and would really like something to build to the 350-400 horse range and efi is really restricting. Being a 5spd it shouldn't be a whole lot of trouble though.

if your 17 you should be restricted to a 165 hp 300, also you do know that you will get 10-15 mpg with that right? it also wont last as long as a 300 will. that and with you saying horsepower i assume it is for going fast and not to have more towing power, word to the wise when you hit 90 mph or so you are going to have a ton of lift. if you are building this to go fast. the best go fast goody for the money is a mustang
