Edit: Electric fuel causing more mods?

Completely changing the thread. lol
Its in regards to there not being enough space to mount the filters/pump conveniently on the drivers frame.

I think the midship is gunna have to go bye bye and have a 38 gallon rear installed.
Not in that order.. Remove bed. Get rear out. Shocks/brakes.
THEN remove rear tank. THEN install e-fuel.

My question is in regards to the wiring/fuel selector valve/roll over valve. etc that goes with a different rear tank.
Couldnt you just remove the fuel selector valve and have one line from the rear tank on up? Then delete the wiring/switch for fuel selector?
Or is it easier to just remove front tank.. leave switch etc in place and just keep it in 'rear' for..ever?

This is me thinking outloud cuz im totally mellow with my friend jack. Just moved sister back from college yesterday so the truck TECHNICALLY doesnt need to be driving until RRE.
So plenty of time.
Let me know what yall think of the removing bed, bigger rear tank, install e-fuel on the rail then.

well you have to put it forward of the talk-selector valve, right? unless you are going to loop a bunch of line backward and then forward again.

In my future-mod dreams, I always thought it would be cool to put the e-fuel pump and filters in the bed of the truck, up in the driver's side forward corner, like underneath the bed-rail. it might stick out somewhat from the vertical surface of the bedrail, but my toolbox would cover it up and protect it from getting beat up by stuff, or you could make a little compartment cover plate out of some sheet metal if you don't have a toolbox.

it strikes me as strange to just let the filters hang down under the truck like is standard. I mean, I guess it works and the filters are cheap enough, but it looks like they're begging to get hit by a rock or something down there...

just my thoughts.

Yeah usually right before the selector valve, but in the video you can see how there is about 4 or 6 inches between the transfer case skid plate and the front fuel tank. My fuel selector valve is right there.. There is no room to mount anything there...perhaps just the pump and have the filters elsewhere...
But dont you want the pre-filter before the pump???

Also regarding your concerns of the filters hanging down. I know a few who make a protective guard like in Tim's writeup..
Tims I/C Page example

I am hoping someone takes a gander at the video and has an idea.
I could mount it on the outter side of the frame rail where there is nothing, but that would require some interesting routing and then it would SURELY hang low...

You should be able to mount it outside like you're saying. No reason it would be any lower than if mounted on the inside. You could loop your lines over/under the frame and hook them up. That would work, I have no other ideas for you.

If I get a chance to look under a reg. cab, and get some measurements, I'll see if I can come up with any ideas.

With the mount I made for mine, the filters only hang below the bottom of the frame about 1 1/2". I think the skid plate is lower than the filters.

The only bad thing I can see about putting them in up in the corner of the bed is getting fuel in the bed when you change filters.

Diesel fuel is a decent cleaner, right? not going to dissolve paint/bed liner, but will break up dirt and such. So, i'd consider it a spring cleaning! :-)

the other bad thing would be cutting the holes to get the lines up through the floor of the bed. ...but then, I guess you'd have drain holes there to let the water out that accumulates when you're parked facing down hill.

so its a great idea all around!

Except. i would want as much gravity feed as i can get.i guess its not huge but most pumps need that ease of pickup to not cavitate.

Not to be argumentative, but I don't think that location would be any higher than the stock mechanical pump sitting on top of our engines right now, right?

That mount doesn't work well on the drivers side of RC trucks the front drive shaft is too close for comfort for me but I used the same mount on the pass side frame rail works just fine you have to run a hose over and back but for ease of installation and access to filters I like it though I did mount it on the out side because of exhaust routing so it just needs a skid plate looks good though I thought about in the bed but I'd be afraid of damaging it with a piece of scrap or something

Yeah thats the thing I looked at the pass side and it looks like id have to go on the outside of the rail there too since the exhaust is in the way...
If im going to be on the outside of the frame rail ill probably keep it on the drivers side and create a protective shield there.

Bill - I will get some pictures and measurements later tonight if it aint too dark.
Ive gotta go move my sister back from college.
