Well I just got rid of my 2012 6.7 over the weekend and going to get serious about getting my 97 7.3 in tip top shape. Since Ive had it (3 years) the fuel gauge has never worked. The tanks switch fine but the fuel gauge just sits all the way down past the full mark. I'm not very familiar with the sending units on these tanks so any help would be appreciated. where do I start?
Way to avoid the truck payment! Smart decision IMO.
Assuming you know the fuel level isnt actually full.
Then I would start with a simple removal of the dash and take out the dash portion with the fuel gauge.
They are simple push in and the actual dash gauge clusters are in 5 pieces i believe.
I would dink around at the junk yards and see if putting one in replace of yours would fix it.
My tach was sticking for the longest time. $5 fix!
