Ive been thinking about putting stacks on my 84 f250. it is COMPLETELY stock and ive been juggling the idea ive also been thinking of running the exhaust in front of the rear tires or behind the rear tires at 90 degrees. Im more than likely gonna put some kind of muffler on it either rout i go (anything but stock muffler) because i figure id need some back pressure. What do you guys think?
No disrespect to you, but why? Why cut holes in your perfectly good bed? Why have heat canisters melting stuff in the back of your truck? You truck won't "roll coal" like a crappins or a duramax, it will sound like crap, leave everything sooty and dirty, but hey, if you want to fit in with the "new hip teenager" crowd, go right ahead. In my opinion stacks ruin any style side truck. A flare side is better, but really? They are for big rigs and hot rods, not a work truck.
I do not mean to offend ANYBODY with stacks, just disagree with them.
i hear what your saying like i said its an idea im not concerned about holes in the bed or loosing space i have an 8 foot box. i know what your thinking "if you want stacks get an 18 wheeler" am i right? i just like the look not crazy about them but they are ok looking and i am a teenager im 19 but the last thing i want to do is fit in like i said it just an idea.
You do not need back pressure on a 6.9. Straight pipe open flow will yield best performance. Stacks on a pick- up are for style, and if that's your thing then rock that style, but remember that any exhaust exit ahead of the rear wheels will increase the exhaust-in-the-cab problem, especially if you spend much time at stoplights with the windows down. This includes stacks. Personally I would put $$ into a large diameter straight pipe to the back of the truck, but that does not account for taste in style.
well if i go with the pipes that exit in front of the rear tires is there any way i can dual them i looked to see if i could but i dont think i can because of my front drive shaft (i have a 4 wheel drive)
