One more quick question, if the IPR coil and or harness are the issue, do they jsut kill the enigne instantly or does teh engine sputter a bit and then die?
Just Ordered ICP and Pigtail from Clay this morning for mine.
I would like to know also, has anyone else had weird issues after replacing the ICP? My truck runs descent without it, therefore i assume it is just the ICP. Is this one of those sensors that require 50+ miles to get adjusted too?

The three instances (2 3126 CAT engines and 1 Power Stroke) that I have experienced with bad IPR coils caused the engine to shut down immediately as if the ignition key was turned off. Running fine one minute...totally dead the next. Sometimes the truck would restart only to die moments later. Other times it wouldn't start at all. I now carry a brand new IPR in my tool box. I wish I could buy just the coil because that is all that has given me problems so far but unfortunately I think the only way to get that part is to buy the entire IPR assembly.
Another update, the truck died 100 yards from my house this morning. I did get an IPR coil and harness so those will be the next items. One wierd issue this morning is when I turned it to the on position, the Wait to Start light was not on, but the SES light was? cycled the key switch and it went back to normal witht eh Wait to Start light on and no SES light. Looks like I might be investing in the AE software soon.
Please let us know what you find. My truck does the no WTS light thing almost every other time I get in it. Has for years. I just got used to it. I thought it had to do with a ishtty install on my DP.

I have replaced my ICP twice and pigtail once. In no way did it behave strange or take any amount of time to "adjust".
Thanks Shake-N-Bake for the info! That is exactly what mine seems to do. Of course it seems to run fine in the driveway and around the block, try to do anything other than that and it just dies, exaclty as you describe like someone turning the switch off! I can usually cycle through a couple times and get it to restart. I will get that installed this evening hopefully.
Why can't you just ohm the coil out? I did this a few years back at the suggestion of another member when my stalling issues were really bad.
The IPR coil on my 450 tested bad immediately after I removed it from the truck but tested fine the next day. I even put it back on just for verification and the truck fired right back up. I drove it like that for a day and had one hiccup episode. I pulled it out, marked it with a question mark and put the new one back on. No more issues since (been at least 6 months or so...)
I think SpringerPop's theory is very plausible....the solder connections between the coil and plug might be the culprit. If so, that sort of failure is intermittent depending on temperature and vibration. Pretty much matches my symptoms so I tend to agree with Marv's suspicion. One of these days I'll find some time to 'explore' under the skin of the coil and see if that connection can be repaired.

Just to clarify....all you need to do it change the coil. 2 minutes tops...I use loctite on the tin nut.
Also inspect the IPR wire harness closely. Did you see the photo of the wires that Robin found in his truck? He had been driving it like that for at least a year before he discovered the issue. Amazing it even ran with wires that bad. These trucks are tough.
