I have a problem with my 2005 F250 6.0. The problem is with my temp gauge. When I tow my 25 foot 5thwheel, the chime in the instrument cluster dings. In about 30seconds the temp gauge goes from normal to hot. I slow the truckdown to about 20 mph for about 60 seconds and the gauge returns to normal. I can stop the truck and open the hood and the engine does not seem to be hot. Any Ideas??
Do you have white speckles all over the area around the recovery coolant jug? Sounds to me like your oil cooler is clogged...... Do you have any gauges other than the normal Ford idiot ones?
I'd get a Scangauge so I could read the actual temps. Then I'd get a infrared temp gun so I could take actual temperatures. I'd get it hot and see if the temp on the thermostat housing matched what the computer and the sensor thought the temp was. It's probably a bad sensor, but until you test, you don't know. The factory gauge is useless, you need to read the OBDII data.
Not to get you too worried but , when the heads poped the factory gauge Never gave me any warning , untill I looked in the pasenger mirror and seen a cloud of misty white coolent smelling, then it was too late I even hydro locked when I tryed to start and move the truck , so those gauges are very Important.
