no tech: bought a LITTLE too soon...

Has anyone bought a car/truck/toy and a week or two later (or sooner) a BETTER one comes along at a BETTER price? Is this common, or just me?

I'm usually pretty good at finding really good deals and finding out that whatever I'm looking at is sold already.

Yep same here..... must be a brother to Murphy's Law. A good deal gets bested by another deal and you have no $$$ as you bought the other deal!

I think this happens to us all sometime or another. What I blame it on is we get into to big of a hurry buying things.Almost all dealers (not just car) thrive on selling you in the moment. If we all stood back a moment & pass we might not have these experiences near as much.
One of the biggest screwing s I ever got was a new Chevy 04 Trailblazer. just a few months after we bought ours GM dumped the price by $5000. So there we sat with not only a depreciation but $5 grand manufacture screw.
That was the last new vehicle we ever bought or will ever buy again.
Vehicles seen to lead the way for your qyestion although I'm sure there are many others things also.

When I bought my truck, I had been looking for one of this body style for almost a year. I had flirted with a few rangers, but later learned that a full size F-150 was almost the same on gas mileage. Anyway, When I didn't have the money to buy, every kind of anything I'd ever want was available, and good deals on price, but I was sitting there dreaming without money. When I finally earned enough cash to be SERIOUSLY looking, I couldn't find a darn thing.

Luckily when I went to look at the truck that's now mine, It had been posted about 6 pm the night before. I actually saw it that night, but it didn't catch my eye. The next morning, my dad saw it, called the guy, then woke me up saying we were going to look it over! lol

NOPE. Not me. I am patient and WAIT. For 15 years if need be. That is how I got my RUST FREE bronco with 6" lift , 35" tires, 302/5speed, 4.56 gears for $2000

I bought one vehicle in 04', still driving it today with no plans in the foreseeable future to replace it. No buyers remorse on that one.

My dad would always tell me as a kid not to disclose what you pay for something because you'll always have some one upper telling you that you got screwed: they bought a bigger better blah blah blah for half what you paid for your POS! They are usually full of ****: and are known as one uppers.

Now, there are of course great deals out there (Brad's example) but for a everyday item no one can wait 15 years...that's one fifth of many peoples lives. Life is short, debt sucks, so work hard, pay with cash, and don't look back.

Oh yea, happened to me a few times. I've definitely learned from those mistakes and have gotten better. I am a much better negotiator, and much more patient than I used to be.

Actually just bought my 41st vehicle the other day. $250 for an 85 Nissan pickup, 5-speed with the napZ motor (8 spark plug, 4 cylinder) runs and drives perfectly and will easily smoke the tires, which are all brand new by the way. Not the most cosmetically pretty but I only bought it to save on gas so I really don't care about that.

Every. Damn. Time.

Even when I get a screaming deal, a better one comes along after. The important thing is to never pay more than you value the object at and be happy that you got your price. And of course stop looking.
