4.6L In Excursion?

Does anyone have any knowledge of the 4.6L V8 and 4R70W combo being offered in the Excursion at any time? I see that configuration when I look up parts on the rock auto and drivetrain.com websites.
I know of weirder things being produced. Does anyone remember the Chevy 1 ton dually pickup with the available 4.3L V6?

I would highly doubt it in the US, but in other countries maybe...

The excursion was only offered with the 2V motors. 5.4 V8, 6.8 V10, 7.3 diesel from 2000-early 03, 6.0 diesel from late 03-05. The transmissions were always the 4R100 in the 2000-2005 Gas trucks had the 4R100, The Late 03-05 diesels with the 6.0 got the 5R110. I don't think the 4.6 can handle an almost 9,000 pound truck, not accounting the loads being carried. I dont think the trans would last long either. IIRC the 2500/3500 SRW trucks had them as an option, I dont think the dually ever had a V6 option.

I can't speak for foreign sales, but there was never anything less than a 5.4L/4R100 put in a Super Duty truck sold for domestic use. Furthermore the overwhelming majority of 4.6L engines ever sold prior to 2006 were 2V, with the only exceptions being the Mustang Cobra and Mach I. The 3V 4.6L engine was introduced for the 2006 Explorer, and it eventually made it into the F150s for 2009-2010.

And just to nitpick, but the 6.0L is a 4V engine.

The Mark VIII had a 4.6L 4V. So did the Lincoln Continental, starting in 1996, though that one was a front wheel drive. The Lincoln Aviator also had a 4.6L 4V.

Good catch Mark, I've never researched the luxury brands much.

The luxury buyers want power, which the single cam motors were a bit lacking. I'd like to get a hold of a Navigator 5.4 DOHC to play with in my Mustang...
