Just an quick question for the guys that have done the foil delete. Im reading you hear a lot more turbo with it removed, is it that much difference? I already here quiet a bit due to the open filter. Im bored today, no work, already cleaned the motor, doing the truck in a bit, so I figured why not do this to.
Doesnt bring anything as far as I know. Just wondering about the sound. I think it looks out of place under the hood. But once I remove it im stuck even if the sound annoys me.
You'll definitely hear the difference. Like KDR says, it's not gonna do anything performance wise but if you like hearing turbo whine, as I call it, you'll like it. If you have a wire wheel for a drill, it makes getting that crap off alot easier.

I have a stand alone grinder and wire wheel machine, so getting the glue off wont be a problem. If I had to do it by hand, I would not even take the time.
The high pitched turbo whine was much more audible on mine after I removed the foil. Of note, however, this was also at the same time I switched from a 6637 to an S&B intake. It's likely the combination of a quieter intake system and foil removal made the turbo more noticeable.
Do y'all know if anyone has check the ambient temp under the hood without the insulation? Back when I was hotroddin we wrapped both the hot & cold sides to keep the temps as isolated as possible. Especially on bugs, they have heat issues anyway...
Well all of thirty minutes with the tools I have available. For reference, with a K&N full intake system, you really cant tell the difference. Im just glad its gone.
Now let me ask another couple questions. How high heat of paint do I need to get to paint them? Second, does anyone know a company that can color match my paint with high heat paint?
i painted mine with engine enamel from autozone... ford blue!!
Yea I was thinking something along the blue of my truck. Dont need powder coat because this is always going to be a work truck, never a show truck, plus no powder coat shops near me anywhere. I may just pick something up at the parts store.
i got one can and did 3 coats about 2 years ago and besides some minor scraping where it hits in spots when i take them off, all the paint is in good condition and looks like the day i painted it
