I think it would be cool if we could have a sticky where people detail mileage of when parts failed on their trucks. Like say; egr failure @ xx, xxx miles and maybe description how you have been using the truck. Just to give a general idea when something may go bad.
So many parts fail due to heavy use or lack of maintenance or as a result of other problems (ie domino effect, like alternator-batteries-FICM). Timing can vary quite a bit in these situations. Also, it can be different between year models (ie ICPs and HPOPs).
Yeah I understand... so adding years to it is a good idea. Mainly the major failures like stc fitting, or egr failure, oil cooler failure, etc.... also prob need to add any mods done prior. Just to get a idea for someone who hasn't had any failures yet. My 06 truck has 85k and ficm started going, got replacement from Ed.
EGR and Oil Cooler failure mainly gets dictated by how well the block got cleaned after casting process this will be Impossible to track
In all Honesty Most thing will be IMPOSSIBLE To Track due to to many varibles
The best thing you can do really is read on the tech folder and do ALL Reliability mods
And the HANDS DOWN Best way to see most failure coming is GAUGES
But you Must take gauges a Step further you have to know what your looking at wether or not your getting into a problem area
Lots folks have gauges Like my Bro in Law he has a D-Max whatever great so I see he had a 3 gauge pillair so I ask him what they was and what operating values he didnt want to Excede
Well all he knew was the name of them But had ZERO Idea what he was looking at
I see all these guys driving down the road in diesel truck all have the pillair stacked with gauges and Id bet only 1 in 5 really know what he is looking at The other 4 are just Cool Cats if you know what I mean
So its Vital you get the gauges but also know what your looking at
