Quick question about engine mounts

I am installing a 1980 300 straight 6 and I am wondering if it is easier to install the engine with the mounts already on, or if it is better to put them on once the engine is close to position? Thanks

You'll want to put them on first. Good luck with your install!

You put them on first like was mentioned, but that means you usually need to tilt the engine with the front high and the rear low. That's so you can have it high enough to clear the mounts, but the rear needs too be low enough to miss the firewall. Once you get it close, you can use a floor jack underneath on the pan to raise the rear up to meet the tranny if you have to. The tranny should be pointing up in the front also.
