I can see how engine mounts would be easy to change without a cherry picker but, when does anything work how you want it?
I jacked my 390 up with wood bloocks under the oil pan. It gave me the clearance nessesary to take off the old mounts just fine. From there i went ahead and started installing the new mounts (not easy with two hands). with one side installed i seen that there was no way i could get the new mounts to line realign correctly if i lowered the jack.
My question. Could i safely pull the engine foward the 1/2'' needed on a floor jack with out damaging anything else?
OR
Should I go out to the hardware store and buy bolts and chains for the cherry picker sitting next to my truck?
dont jack engines by the pan lift it GENTLY by the harmonic balencer less likely to couse leaks or bent the pan, and 2nd id use the engine hoist since you have it, if you didnt theres other ways. play it safe !

After your reply i was covinced to go to the hardware store for fasteners and chain for the lift. i defenately felt much safer and im sure it would have been even more difficult to align without. thanks SuperFreak!
