Are there any sources of Key-on power under the dash that don't require splicing into factory wires? The PO of my truck installed the gauges and just had the power wire jammed into the fuse box along side a fuse and it is bothering me to have it that way. Some vehicles used to have some spots in the fuse boxes where one could hook up additional equipment but I don't see anything here. Just wondering what others are using to power up their gauges and equipment.
I do not believe there is. The PO did the same on my Truck. I could not stand it either. I Tapped into the Parking Light wire at the Head light switch. That way the lights are only on when the parking lights and or the head lights are on. You wouldn't need the gauges lit up during the day anyways. Just use wire strippers not cutting the wire and pull back the insulation about a 1/4" split the wires run the gauge light wire threw then solder, wrap with black tape very well and be done. Or are you looking for power for the Pyro EGT gauge?
I got the guage lights fixed by using the extra wire on the trailer brake controller adapter harness. IT was labeled as "illumination" and was taped off before going into the controller. I am looking to power the gauge itself.
This is what I was planning to do because the wire I ran to the battery is driving me crazy!! What fuse is a constant source? And what one is a ko?
Off the top of my head, I am not sure. Look in the owners manual for what all the fuses go to, and then get a multi-meter to check if it is constant or KO.

I will try and post a pic that will help. Depending on the model year...you should look for a light blue wire with pink stripe or a white wire with blue stripe

BAD IDEA, REPEAT, BAD IDEA!!!!!
I just went through this.. if you get a fuse tap you run the risk of breaking the fuse contacts inside the fuse box which you shove it back in. This literally happened to me last week. It cost me $80 to have a shop solder in an inline fuse to make a repair.
You can go with an "add a circuit" but DO NOT go with a fuse tap!
