Okay as it says i have a vacuum pump problem I used to hear it when the truck started now i don't . My air won't change from the defrost vent to the dash vents . For a year or so it has seemed to run forever and the vents were slow to change . First thing i know probably have a leak somewhere and the first thing that will be said is hub seals . The hubs have been disconnected for three years or more the ,lines are plugged . I have looked for the fuse can't find it , so i'am thinking the pump is dead .
You can check for power at the plug (on the pump) with a meter or a simple test light. If it has power, no vacuum, and it's not running, sound like the pump. Unless you can open it up and check the pressure switch. Maybe a band saw?
Sorrey it just dawned on me that your Vac Lines to the Hubs are Caped so that takes the Hubs out the picture NOT the Lines though or where ever the Line is Caped at
the Silinoid May leak if the Pump never shut off and the Vac Lines to the Hubs are Caped
Do you have one of those Mitey Vac Hand Pump Deals?????
Might be worth Tracking the Leak down so you Dont Burn Up the New Vac Pump
Where are the lines plugged? At the hub or up on the manifold? I had a strange thing with intermittent working of the vacuum hubs this winter. Defrost issues whenever I changed the hubs over. So, when I was rotating tires and polishing wheels up from winter, I was looking over brakes and caliper pins ECT. Turns out hose from hub goes to a bracket on the axle behind the pass side front wheel, where it goes to the bracket a double male piece of tube connects the tubing on both sides of the bracket and somehow mine broke, probably a kitty cat hit it or something, any who, a piece of tubing and zip ties and back up and running fine. I tried to go to ford and get a new piece to joint the two ends, you cant get the piece, must get all the hose and bracket for both sides all the way up to the manifold for a mere 107 bucks. So, I ended up using a piece of irrigation part same effect, about 4 cents worth. I would pull all the hoses off and plug the end of the hoses up at the manifold to prevent leaks in this tubing. Mine is getting pretty bad, will have to buy parts in a few.
Mhoefer and Benny thanks for advice . Benny yes i do have a mity vac and will check for leaks didn't think of using it good idea . The lines are plugged at the wheel will plug them at manifold . And checked have power at pump so i guess its burnt up .
