I really want to do this. I was going to up grade to 4 or 5 inch exhaust anyway, but i really want to do a single stack. I assume i can just 90 it at the bed and up through a hole i cut. I want to also get a bigger down pipe. What are you guys runnin out there?
Haaha yea I do things that I like to my truck, im that guy who doesnt care what others think of my truck, but as long as shes runnin good then shes happy.
Just stick with a 3.5" downpipe, some people have trouble with clearance on a 4". Also I woudn't go bigger than 6" or 7" on the stack, starts to look ridiculous after that.
I had a stack on my last truck and got tired of the noise, but it was a cummins so it was much louder than a 6.0. I'm kind of debating a stack on this truck as well, since I can't get it to be loud from inside no matter what I do. I have a side exit now and its still quiet unless I floor it.
It's your truck man, do what makes you happy. Some hate stacks others love them, I personally love'em. They look awesome, sound awesome in my opinion. I have to say though I don't quite get the single stack, go for dual. I took my Grand Rock 4" with 5" Aussie stacks off my 7.3. Got a 3.5" down pipe for the 6.0, after reading about others having clearance/installation issues with a 4" downpipe. Honestly, I didn't install it yet on the 6.0 cause I'm waiting until I have the bed liner done before putting in the Y pipe, hopefully in the next couple weeks.
I've been (somewhat painfully) on the fence on this for years...
I've seen some that actually look good. I've seen some that look like absolute s***. To me, the ones that are really tall are stupid. Bent tips (bull hauler stacks) look stupid. Thin pipe (3-inch) looks stupid. Straight 5-inch pipe with a slash cut that just BARELY clears the top of the cab is what usually looks the least idiotic.
I've toyed with the idea of doing this myself, but I'd have to part with my R-K toolbox, and that's just not gonna happen. And if I move it back to accommodate stacks, the bed becomes even more useless. *sigh*
The funny thing is that Kenworth and Navistar use mufflers on the class-8 rigs that have the inlet and outlet on the same end of the can. With a little work, you could replace the factory muffler with one like KW and Navistar use, mounted in the factory location, and have your quiet AND stacks.

I agree (except maybe a 6" stack instead of 5"). One mitre-cut stack on the passenger side is the best looking setup. In fact the only reason I don't have this on my own truck is the fear that some fuddy-duddy would consider not buying my truck in the future because there was a small hole in the bed.
