Exclamation Rounded Tranny Bolts

Ok so I am new here and have a few questions. i recently bought a 96 ranger 4wd that needs a new tranny. I have been reading and looking at several peoples threads that they have going on here and it has helped much in my efforts in removing a transmission however, i managed to round off the top bolts from the tranny to engine bolts.

these are the bolts at 1 top right and 3 the one behind the wire harness.

I have the truck up on jack stands high enough that i can sit under neath it and look down the transmission towards the engine and see the bolts.

I have tried using bolt extractor sockets, i rounded the internal teeth of the sockets.

I then upgrade to Grip-tite cam sockets and even these keep slipping.
I tried to get up in there with a dremel to add edges to it but dont have enough room to reach all the way. I cannot get a torch in there either or a drill.

Is there another tool that someone can recommend in getting rounded bolts or is there a way to undo the engine mounts so I can tip the tranny down farther to have more room to get a grinder or a drill in there?

any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

thanks in advance.

Remove the cross member and lower the assembly.

Remove the transfer case.

That should give you lots of room.

By the sound of it you or somone had the wrong size socket.

Are the bolts imperial or metric?

I have the transfer case off and the crossmember as of right now my tranny is free hanging off the engine block. I have all but the 2 bolts left to be able to pull the tranny out.

You may have to use your dremel and cut the heads off.

Tried that too but can't get enough leverage on the dremel to cut through it. I even resorted to cutting a hole through the floor boards ad trying that way but the damn riveted heat shield is in the way

Can you drive a smaller socket onto the head?

Have you tried a wobble adapter?

By wobble adapter you mean for a socket yes I did. That's how it got rounded in the first place.

Hammering the next size socket down is the next option I had

I did not mean a universal socket.

Wobble adapter and universal socket are different animals.
