I have a friend whose father has a Jeep Grand Cherrokee with a automatic transmission. He got some water in his Trans in the flood. We are going to try and flush the fluid. Can I use my Mircon V fluid that I drained from my Superduty to use for the flush in his Jeep transmission? My fluid is in ok condition and will mostly be used for flushing. Thanks!
I'd do it but only after straining it through something to remove any particulates, before running it through the Jeeps tranny.
I'm not too worked about particulate I have an external filter on my truck. The fluid in the jeep looks and smells horrible. I'm more worried about fluid incompatibility.
Yes, they are incompatible. Bad things could happen. I doubt that anyone has tested this to see what will happen.
On the other hand, nearly 100% of transmissions that get water in them from flooding are destroyed. The glue that holds the friction material to the clutch plates and band straps is water based. When that much water gets in the trans the glue dissolves and all the friction falls off.
