Hmmm figures! the post I read said that TA30 was for our intake plenems and TA31 was for pretty much everything elts? What's the difference between the 2 that makes the TA30 not compatible with the 7.3?

TA-31 should be used on anything that is contacting oil on these engines b/c regular RTV will cause the oil to foam. With that said, you don't have to worry about that on the intake plenums, but TA-31 is incredibly strong stuff and is why we use it on the plenums. TA-30 might work, I've never used it, but I would use TA-31 if you can.

Motorcraft RTV. Both are grey in color, but TA-30 is darker grey than TA-31.

TA-31 is diesel specific RTV to prevent foaming of the engine oil. Standard RTV does something to the detergents in the diesel engine oil that causes it to foam.

TA-30 says its for use in all engines except diesels.
