That is a very good question. It is very neatly done. I can't imagine doing those by hand.

Just guessing here.......after the part was plated the paint was sprayed, not brushed, and they used a template to "mask off" for each color. Any overspray would be wiped off while still wet. At least that's how I'd do it...
To answer your original question is the correct original for 53-56. I think the first one was repainted by the owner after the paint had worn off.
The only other different but correct paint scheme I have seen is on fords made in Brazil. These emblems use green and yellow in some combo since that is the color of their flag...

That was what I thought initially, and if they did they were really good. Close inspection does not show any evidence of being repainted. I just thought maybe the change up in the paint was a year model thing.

The casting quality of the two is very different.
It could be an old reproduction, not done correctly, but I really think it is an old original that someone tried to repaint. You should see the original one off of my '54. The casting looks different because it is so weather beaten.
