3V Ford V-10 issues -- HELP!
Monday morning driving home from work, low fuel light on, planning to get gas. Truck misses & dies at highway speed. Guess it ran out of guys, no CEL. Coast into a Chevron, put in 14 gallons. No start. Pump the DBW throttle, finally idles rough, and wont idle below 1,200rpm, still no CEL. Limp it home. No start at all. No CEL. Replace the Fuel Pump Driver Module -- super common failure on 3Vs or any Ford with a returnless fuel system -- the Dorman part # crossed to over 500+ FoMoCo vehicles. Starts, idles fine, for 20 seconds, dies. No CEL. Finally figure out that rapid 0% - 100% throttle snaps will bring the engine up in RPM. Won't run below 1,800 now. Get it to work, and it throws a CEL, FINALLY. Limp it from the gym to the office, 2 miles. Won't run below 2,500 now. Let it sit overnight while I'm at work. Fellow in a different office has a code reader and pulls off these -- P2106, P016B, P2195, P2197. Limp mode, and both banks lean. 2,750-3,700rpm it drives but is very underpowered. 3700+ it pulls like a train. Under 2700 and it starts to fall on it's face FAST, dies.
Needless to say, it was a very interesting 14 mile drive home since mine has the ZF-6.
