Well it depends on a number of things...First what does "into the yellow" represent in degrees? What is the ambient temperature when you are driving? What speed are you going when it goes "into the yellow"? What are the grades you are pulling?

I can pull 7k behind my 99 dually at 55 mph over Donner Summit (7,000') like it wasn't there with my overdrive ON, if I can drive 55 (that is 40+ miles of average 6% grades), temperature will be about 170-190 depending on ambient air temperature. The slower you go with a load, the more the tranny tends to heat up. Bumper to bumper traffic pulling a large load is the worst.

degrees i have no idea, was going up a pretty steep grade at 35-40 mph and watched the needle move into the yellow and almost into the red when got to the top. was about 65degree outside. the first grade i stabbed it up the hill and it was in the yellow at 55mph, so decided to go slower up the next with same results. does fine in traffic and anywhere else. have 2k miles on tranni

Did you do a full flush of the entire cooling system before re-installing the new transmission?

I have many years of automatic transmission experience, but I don't know what "going into lockout" means. Can you explain it to me?
