97 explorer

I am a retired mechanic.
I am helping a friend out.
This explorer was parked about a year ago. She now wants it running again.
The only thing wrong was the battery when parked.
I installed a new battery and it cranks over very good. It has no fuel pressure or spark.
There has to be a comon link for the two,But I am at a loss to find it. Any help would be appreciated

How long since you retired.??....

Corroded connections in the electrical circuits are the common denominator, critical on these electronic cars.

Not so much with the old electro mechanical ones... Philip

Are you determining there is no fuel pressure because the spark plugs are dry or by actually checking the pressure at the fuel rail? If by checking the spark plugs, you may be up against a failed Crankshaft Position Sensor that is not triggering the PCM to trigger the fuel injectors or coils. I don't recall if the CKP sensor triggers both or if the CMP sensor is used for the injector trigger.

Also, if the '97 has an anti-theft system that is not recognizing the transponder key, it may be preventing spark and injector pulse.

Do you have a means of checking for injector pulse (noid light or oscilloscope)? And of course and OBD-II scan tool to check for stored or pending codes may be of use, although since you just installed the battery it may not have triggered anything yet.

I checked for spark at the coils and for fuel pressure at the schrader valve. nothing there.
It will be a couple of days before I can get back to it so any other Ideas that you ay have are more than welcome
