Funny how the "right" engine makes an otherwise forgettable POS something of interest.... Looking at it, I think I like that "straight" boxy look better than the fat-arsed fastback look of the Duster etc. I drove a 340 4 speed Dart ('72?) once, that thing would fly, and spin the tires just easing on the gas in 2nd.
It has leprosy, any signs of cancer?
Runner?
Side pipes? You can probably put those in the classifieds here, someone will buy them for use as stacks/cargo burners in his rusted out pickup.
Picked it up for 800 bucks, clear title and all. Only has 72,000 on it, threw a $20 fuel pump in it an new fuel lines and it fired right up an idled. No dirt in the tank (have a clear filter before the fuel pump) and havn't cleaned out the carb yet. It just runs beautifully. tranny shifts perfect, doesnt leak, and someone spent some time on it with a few upgrades. Plans are to clean it up this summer, paint, interior and what not. Little rust under the vinyl and driver side lower quarter but other than that nothing. floor pan is solid, looks like someone undercoated the whole thing...
Yes, get that vinyl top off. There will definitely be rust at the seam in the back on both sides as Chrysler used simple non-waterproof filler. Pull the lower trim off the rear window and take a look in the trough down there. Many a Chrysler known for rust down in that area besides their quarters. Especially since there is rust in one quarter which means water came in from somewhere up there.
I just finished my 73 Polara and had to deal with that seam and the channel. I was very lucky as no water made its way into the trunk and so my trunk was pristine. Can't say that about many Mopars of any kind.

In my third year of college I was given a 1974 Duster, with the 225 slant six, as a company car. Everything paid for so can't not like that but I thought it was a good car for the two years I had it.
Nice score on the Dart. I see a few ads around here now and then but $800 for something in that condition is a steal. Post some pics once you get it cleaned up.
Aren`t those rims called Center lines? Been a few years for me.
I think you're right---a brand name big with the drag racin' bunch back in the mid-80's. Super skinny wheels/tires up front, massive rubber in the back, completely upsetting the car's stock handling configuration big time!
I'm still thinking even at $800 for a beater car this was one great deal!
Cats didnt show up on Darts until the '75 model year. If no work has been done on the heads (difficult to tell) he may want to consider using a lead additive. That's so close to '75 you have to wonder whether or not Chrysler used hardened valves in the '74 MY to keep it fuel friendly since unleaded was already available at the pumps?? I couldn't find anything specific.
To the OP...nice car, amazing for the money. In addition to checking for rust at the seams under the vinyl, give a close look at the lower drivers side firewall. Leaves and dirt would bunch up in the drains and stay wet, creating another common rust thru area.
