I am going to go ahead and disagree with that particular statement.
I do not believe he meant it as literally as he stated. John Woods is just as reputable, and there is no reason to bicker between the two. I will invest in one of the two, just probably the BTS because I am more familiar with Brian and those who have experience with him.

Yeah... I could have worded that better, but I was just making the point that the heavy-hitters were seeking (or have) an option to a Ford transmission.

that is kind of what I was thinking, as when I owned my truck it was gonna need a new tranny. sold it before I did though. it is hard to cough up the funds up front, but like said before it pays down the road.
not sure where you would get data, but I did hear of a story about BTS.
New customer with a new BTS tranny and he took it to the track to drag his truck.
Brian was in the stands watching the races and the tranny broke. then Brian took the truck back to his shop and fixed the transmission for no charge. not sure what was wrong, but the fact the guy watched him break it dragging and still stood by his product speaks volumes I think. BTS or JW are in the business to make money like anybody else. BUT, they make there money by more buying there tranny's and not doing warranty work. just a thought.
Good luck for sure. I sure would love to have one in my van I currently have, but I doubt it will ever see one at this point. to many other things to make right first.
Brian told me when we were talking about the 'warranty' (I had asked for a 'warranty' sheet and he said his word is his warranty) that if I drag raced and/or 'pulled' sleds with my truck that I would see Brian about once a year. He said that if I pulled commercially heavily, that I 'may' see him every 4-5 years.... with what I was doing with my truck in pulling campers, I should never have to come back to him. I talked to him about putting in a tranny gauge and he said as long as I had the 6.0 cooler installed, that was more important than a 'gauge'. Brian knows that his trannies can be broken, but you have to run the heck out of them hard and for a long time in order to do it.
caedo.... think about what you are going to do with your truck and how long will you keep it. If you are going to keep the truck for 3-4 years or more and want a worry free tranny opion, get the BTS. Brian can ship you one that he has on his shop floor or he can send you a shipping container if you want your original built to bullet proof status. Better yet is to get your truck to him and watch him rebuild yours. He can custom set your tranny to your liking by changing from one shift plate to another. If you have 'tunes' or a chip.... he wants that in it when you 'test' drive to to see how much rubber you can leave on the pavement.

Yeah, I will be heading off to college this fall for the next 4 years and med school for another 4 years after that. My truck is my baby and I want to prepare it so that it will last me many enjoyable years ahead with headache free performance and unmatched reliability.
ROI is the key (as Tugly pointed out). An HD tranny from the stealership will cost you at least $3,500 if not a bit more. A BTS tranny will cost you about $1,000 more than that. The real question is, "How much does a truck's downtime cost the company per day?" For some people, the answer is "$1,000" and so it's a no-brainer to get the BTS. Others might say, "Well, we have spares but maybe $100 a day." Have you ever had a truck down for 2 weeks? I think either way the BTS proves itself very quickly in a business situation where regular towing means revenue.
Another cost factor is, "how much does it cost me to send employees to take a truck to the shop, time dealing with the shop, then sending guys to pick up from the shop?" Franko72's story is not a fluke...numerous guys have had their truck in the shop 2, 3, 4 times for tranny repairs in a short timeframe...until they got a BTS.
Again, from a commercial standpoint...I think BTS and JW have an obvious ROI argument that makes it a no-brainer.
I will also point out that if get a BTS, and want (or have) a Tuner or Chip that this Will Not void the warranty...... Brian welcomes Tuners and Chips and will 'tune' and adjust your tranny for how you want it to shift and when. When I took a test drive, I told Brian that I wanted it to shift a little differently than it was... he said... "I know what you want"....we went back to the shop and in 10 minutes had a new shift plate in it and back out test driving.
Get your tranny rebuilt at a local shop and it dies on you..... if they find out that you had a 'tuner/chip', the next words you will most likely hear is.... warranty voided because of chip.
Gosh, I wish I could go down there and test drive it with him so that he could fine tune it to my preferences. But hey, I guess beggars can't be choosers.

Thank-you for the rep.
If you can swing it, it is really good to do to take the day and visit with Brian as he is working on your tranny. I see that you have done a lot of mods.... you are a very sick person with PMS (Powerstroke Modification Syndrome). Getting a BTS will make your Syndrome much much worse...... your FTE Brothers are here to help you through this time of Perma-Grin.
