86 Flareside Progress

Thanks to all for the information and stickys posted in this forum, they sure have
help with the work and decisions made on my godson's truck. I thought I would post up some pictures so you can see where we were and how far we have come on the paint and body work. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Chase installed a bucket seat for the driver side [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Still have more work to do and the we are almost ready to start the inside. Chase and I did not do the paint and body work that was done by a pro, we did the bed and alot of the prep and finish work.

How did you take the wood out of the bed with the bed and bedsides still on the truck? Also, did you install the wood after paint I assume?

There was very little wood left in the bed it was so rotted. The bed sits on cross sills on the frame and not on the wood itself, so it does not matter about the fenders. We put the wood in last after finishing the paint.

I see. I disassembled mine over the weekend and I'm deciding what order I want to paint and reassemble everything. My bed sides did bolt to the original wood but I think the boards could be tucked in later like you did. Your truck looks great by the way!

Well your right, there is a metal lip on the sides but the wood fits/slides under that lip. Thanks I appreciate it.
