Shudder Noise under load

Got a shudder noise similar to an exhaust leak on my Excursion V10. I have no codes ... engine idles and revs fine.. Only hear noise when under load. Goes away when you let off the gas. any ideas? thanks

Broken manifold studs and it's leaking. Take a look at both sides, bet you have several studs missing.

the seem to be ok .... is it possible the egr valve could cause this as well...

You put your eyes or your hands on all 20 studs and you have none broken?

What year is your truck, some don't have EGR valves.

2001... v10 .... if i put it in gear and hold brake to apply a load it statrs to sound like the thumping noise is just under the intake .... no one can seem to put a finger on it

you only really hear it inside the cab for the most part

Sure someone else will chime in but it's my understanding that if your EGR was bad you would be having idle issues, not just sound. Sure sounds like an exhaust leak, if not broken studs then could be header gasket or pipe flanges. Mine was leaking and your description is spot on to my sound, heard in cab on go pedal only, sounded just under feet and forward of firewall. Had 5 broken studs and a leaking flange on the right side connection.

well, sounds like we have somewhat pinpointed the shudder/thumping noise... with truck in gear and foot on the brake, we applied a load on theengine enough to hear the noise under the hood... noise seems to be coming from the intake manifold .... any one have any input or a problem like this
